Sakson Group S.A.E. was incorporated in January 2006 under the Free Zone Law of the Arab Republic of Egypt as an independent drilling contractor, specializing in the operation and management drilling rigs as well as providing Tubular Running Services.
Since its founding, Sakson Group has operated in a variety of locations, providing exemplary drilling and oilfield services. In 2008, Sakson expanded the geographical scope of its operation to the Iraqi-Kurdistan, a pioneering feat as the region was considered an unchartered and challenging area at the time.
Meanwhile, the firm founded Saknafta Egypt, a subsidiary of Sakson Group specializing in Coiled Tubing, Reservoir Stimulation Services, Pipeline Process Services and the Supply of Oilfield Products.
Sakson Group’s dedication to its expansive strategy led to the extension of operations to Syria and the Southern Iraq in 2009 and 2010, during which the company continued to strengthen its existing fleet in Iraqi-Kurdistan.
In 2011, Sakson purchased its first rig, and broadened its geographical footprint to reach the untapped African continent, conducting operations in Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Kenya and Ethiopia.
After years of successful endeavors across the MENA region, Sakson Group increased its capital to $20 million in 2012. To meet the increasing demands of its clients, the firm acquired four rigs, in addition to commencing operations in Algeria.
Today Sakson enjoys a broad and extensive presence in the region. The firm operates a fleet of ten rigs – five of which are Sakson property – and manages ten rigs for various operators in the region.
